On Saturday, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket was supposed to launch from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 11:21 p.m. pacific time.

Due to a severe storm system increasing winds and waves in the Atlantic Ocean along the Crew Dragon flight route for the Oct. 31 launch attempt, the @NASA @SpaceX #Crew3 mission has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 1:10 a.m. ET. NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur, JAXA astronaut Akihiko Hoshide, and European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Pesquet are scheduled to return to Earth in early November aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon module Endeavour.

McArthur, a Northern California native, has a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from UCLA and a PhD in oceanography from UC San Diego, where she worked as a researcher at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

In November 2020, SpaceX sent its first official crew to the International Space Station on the Resilience Dragon spacecraft.

Last summer, SpaceX sent two people to the International Space Station in the Endeavour capsule from Cape Canaveral, marking the first human mission to launch from American soil since the Space Shuttle program was discontinued. However, the voyage was billed as a demonstration flight to demonstrate the Crew Dragon spacecraft’s capabilities.
