John Wall is known for his explosive athleticism and his ability to create highlight reel dunks. However, he’s also known as a player who doesn’t like to share the ball.

John Wall Emphatically Proves He’s Nothing Like Ben Simmons at Houston Rockets Training Camp. When the Philadelphia 76ers traded for John Wall, they were expecting a player that would be able to take over games and lead his team to victory. However, after watching him play in the NBA Summer League and training camp, it appears as if he is nothing like Ben Simmons.

Both John Wall and Ben Simmons want to be traded. But they’re approaching it in two very different ways.

The NBA scene continues to be dominated by Simmons’ reluctance to report to the Philadelphia 76ers training camp his adamance about never playing in Philly again. Despite the fact that the Sixers still want the star point guard to report, it does not seem that he will do so anytime soon.

Simmons is on the lookout for his prey. Wall, on the other hand, is actively assisting his present employer while attempting to establish himself as a competitor. Despite his hefty contract, John Wall’s importance as a senior leader is shown by the many methods.

Silas thinks it’s wonderful having John Wall on the team, being able to take him aside and speak about what’s happening on while also allowing him to assist the younger guys.

The Houston Rockets and John Wall had previously agreed that he would sit out the first few games of the season as the two sides worked out a trade. Wall could simply relax and wait for his destiny to be decided. Rather, he is becoming engaged.

Wall has been commended by Houston Rockets head coach Stephen Silas for staying committed as the club prepares for the 2021-22 season. He’s even acted as Silas’ adviser on a few occasions.

Despite being a divisive character who had his leadership called into question after his acrimonious exit from the Washington Wizards, Wall has been a polished professional in Houston. He has already agreed to go with the squad, even though he will not be playing. The five-time All-Star point guard is relishing his new position.

Wall said SportsRadio 610, “My goal here is to be a mentor via leadership, to try to educate these young players how the NBA works and to be a support system throughout the season.”

It says a lot about Wall that he wants to be a part of the rebuilding process for a club he’s about to depart and one that ended last season with the poorest record in the NBA. Not to add, it’s a far cry from Ben Simmons’ attitude toward his own trade requests.

Wall establishes a barrier between himself and Ben Simmons.

At the very least, Wall has shown that he is nothing like Ben Simmons.

Whereas Simmons is being obstinate in refusing to at least attempt to work things out with the Sixers, a top contender in the Eastern Conference, Wall is demonstrating patience despite playing for a mediocre Rockets club. Furthermore, he seems to enjoy the opportunity to assist young men in their development.

If forced to choose between Simmons and Wall, it’s definitely fair to say that clubs looking for a point guard improvement would prefer to have Simmons. The 76ers’ guard is almost six years younger than he is. He is a much better defender, and his health has improved in recent seasons.

Teams, on the other hand, may be concerned about Simmons’ ego. That doesn’t seem to be a problem for Wall, who just wants to win and still has something left in the tank at the age of 31.

Will Wall’s strategy help him improve his trading stock? Is his contract going to need a buyout at some point?

To get out of Houston, John Wall may have to seek for a buyout.

Rather of agreeing to a buyout, the Rockets are determined to locate a trade partner for John Wall. But, really, a buyout may be the only viable alternative.

Houston owes Wall more than $44 million this season, and the veteran point guard has a player option for more than $47 million in 2022-23. It will be difficult to identify a team that has both the tradable contracts and the financial resources to make a transaction happen. In addition, given of Wall’s recent injury history, clubs may be hesitant to sign him.

Wall, on the other hand, has shown a great degree of character. The accusations leveled against Ben Simmons are strong evidence that character and leadership do matter. Perhaps it makes all the difference to a competitor attempting to get him.

Spotrac provided contract details.
