With the victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta has won their first World Series since 1995. This is a team to watch in 2019 and beyond as an elite contender for years to come.
The Atlanta Braves have defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in six games to win the World Series. The series was a short one, with Game 6 being played on Monday night and lasting just four hours at SunTrust Park in Georgia. Most of that time was taken up by rain delays which caused some concern for fans who were unable to see a decisive game during their live experience.,

Will Smith, Atlanta’s closer, entered the game in the ninth inning.
Michael Brantley got things started with a single. Smith, on the other hand, got Carlos Correa to line out to right and Yordan Alvarez to fly out to left.
With one last opportunity for Houston, Yuli Gurriel was called up, and Smith ended the Series when Gurriel grounded out to shortstop.

Atlanta’s batters had nothing left to give against Houston’s Yimi Garcia.
Travis d’Arnaud took the lead and flew to the middle. To close the inning, Dansby Swanson lined out to short and Eddie Rosario grounded out to first.

The Astros were still perplexed when Tyler Matzek came out to open the second inning.
Aledmys Diaz stepped in as a pinch-hitter for Jose Siri, but he didn’t make the most of his chance, striking out looking. Marwin Gonzalez, another pinch-hitter, stepped in for Martn Maldonado and struck out as well. Jose Altuve then went on the prowl.
Matzek has four strikeouts in two innings, and he and Fried have combined for a total of ten strikeouts without issuing a walk.

With Houston closer Ryan Pressly on the mound, the top of the eighth inning was rather calm, except for a play that seemed to be more dangerous than it turned out to be.
When Adam Duvall hit a fly ball to right center between the outfielders, it didn’t seem to be the case. Kyle Tucker ended up lunging for the ball and just avoiding crashing into center fielder Jose Siri as he caught it. Both players seemed to be in good shape, but the risk of tragedy was considerable.
To close the inning, Joc Pederson grounded out to first and Ozzie Albies flew out to center.

The Braves went to their bullpen (or arm barn, if you will). Tyler Matzek replaced Max Fried, who had pitched six scoreless innings. He continued the pattern.
Yordan Alvarez got things started with a single. Matzek, on the other hand, was flawless after that. Yuli Gurriel flew out to right, Kyle Tucker grounded out to right, and Matzek ended the inning with a three-pitch strikeout on Alex Bregman.

Tyler Matzek has made his way into the fray. The Atlanta reliever is making his 13th appearance of the playoffs, breaking Mark Wohlers’ previous high of 12 set on Saturday night. Wohlers, on the other hand, still holds the record for most career postseason saves for Atlanta (nine).

For Houston, Ryne Stanek stepped in and looked well for the most part, but he did allow Freddie Freeman to add an extra run with a solo homer.
He got Eddie Rosario to strike out swinging, then got Jorge Soler to hit a strong grounder that third baseman Alex Bregman snagged with a spectacular dive and then threw across the field for out No. 2.
But Freeman wasn’t done for the night in what may have been his last at-bat for Atlanta as he approaches free agency. He hit a home shot to center field to put the game out of reach at 7-0.
Stanek got out of the inning by striking out Austin Riley, but the game was already out of hand.

Max Fried is still alive and well.
The first out came in the form of a six-pitch strikeout of catcher Martn Maldonado, who stared down a changeup for strike three. Jose Altuve’s pop-up to shortstop was the second out. Fried got out of the inning when Carlos Correa struck out (a dropped third strike added some drama, but Travis d’Arnaud threw Correa out easily at first). Michael Brantley singled on a grounder up the middle that was almost a sensational play by Dansby Swanson, but Fried got out of the inning when Carlos Correa struck out.
Fried has been outstanding despite getting his right ankle stomped on in the first inning. He’s only thrown 74 pitches so far.

Dansby Swanson grew up a Braves fan, and his two-run homer, part of a three-run inning that concluded with Atlanta ahead 6-0, drastically boosted Atlanta’s chances of winning the World Series tonight.
After drawing a leadoff walk, Ozzie Albies moved to second on a wild pitch by Cristian Javier that went well up and over catcher Martn Maldonado’s glove. After Travis d’Arnaud struck out, Swanson put the game out of reach by turning on a 2-2 fastball from Javier and blasting it 411 feet to left.
In relief of Javier, Blake Taylor got Eddie Rosario to ground out on a comebacker to the mound. He walked Jorge Soler before being scorched when Freddie Freeman lofted a shot into left-center that escaped the outfielders, hit the wall, and allowing Soler to score from first.
As the inning’s third pitcher, Phil Maton finally put a stop to the bleeding by getting Austin Riley to fly out to center.

As Atlanta extends its lead to 6-0, two things are occurring at Minute Maid Park: Astros supporters are getting more resigned to the situation and, as a result, are becoming more silent. Meanwhile, Atlanta supporters are growing more rowdy, and it is becoming easier to hear them.

As the Astros fight to remain alive, time is running out faster than it was in Game 5. The issue for Houston, which is behind 3-0 in the fourth inning, is that it has placed the leadoff runner on base in three of the four innings thus far… and failed to score.
When Atlanta startled Houston with a first-inning grand slam to take a 4-0 lead in Game 5, Astros Manager Dusty Baker admitted after a 9-5 comeback victory that the good news after the great slam was that the Astros still had plenty of time to rally. Houston is working with limited time tonight, with each lost chance.

Jorge Soler put Atlanta in front… and he put them in front decisively. His three-run homer will be replayed for years to come, and it has Atlanta up early in a game that might end with the franchise winning its first title since 1995.
To begin the first, Ozzie Albies hit to right field and was attempting to steal second base when Travis d’Arnaud flew out to center. When Dansby Swanson lined up to the left of the left-field wall, he was trying for second again. Eddie Rosario attempted a 3-0 pitch but was unsuccessful, settling for a walk after five pitches (yes, Albies was running on the pitch).
Soler got ahead 3-0 with runners on first and second and two outs, ended up in a full-count, and after a few foul balls, he uncoiled on an 83-mph cutter, absolutely demolishing the ball deep beyond the fence in left field and then celebrating the shot at home before rounding the bases for a three-run homer. Albies, Rosario, and Soler were able to jog home after so many efforts.
Through two innings, Garcia had only thrown 20 pitches. Soler had thrown 22 more pitches by the time his home run forced him out of the game.
Brooks Raley came in in relief of Garcia and got Freddie Freeman to ground out to second with just one pitch.
