The thrill of seeing new writing brought to life
The buzz of a production in a development workshop
The delight of a first night performance
… And the knowledge that it couldn’t have happened without you
Net curtains has been bringing to life new writing since 2001 with the support and goodwill of private investors. Without their support, we simply could not have made it happen.
Our plays encourage people to look again at topics and debate contemporaneous issues.
2010 is going to be the biggest year yet for Net Curtains and we’ve changed our fundraising strategy accordingly.
We’ll be applying for Arts Council funding this year for ‘First Impressions’ by Tim Stimpson. This will run at the Theatre Royal Margate and we hope a short tour of other seaside venues, bringing it into London for its final performances. ‘First Impressions’ highlights Margate’s regeneration whilst looking at the fate and the future of our more beleaguered seaside towns. We’ll also be applying for Arts Council funding for our new 2010 theme – access to justice.
We’ll be asking companies and generous individuals to whom the themes of our 2010 season resonate to sponsor the following exciting theatrical events:
- First Impressions: First Peek – three interactive showings of the script in development. We are inviting local schools, outreach groups and locals to see what we’re working on so far and comment. April 2010
- Cheap Justice – a week long script development programme based in Birmingham’s legal quarter, investigating the difficulties facing people trying to access Legal Aid, in its 60th year. June 2010
- First Impressions – the finished production arrives at Theatre Royal Margate. September 2010
But the backbone of getting new writing into the theatre is through private donations from individuals like you.
Previous projects have seen private individuals sponsor the publicity through to paying for the entire cast’s fees. We’ll always be able to find something that will fit your budget … and we’ll find a way of saying a special thank you.
